Coinciding with Retablos: Spanish Paintings from the 14th to 16th centuries, we are cooperating with the Colnaghi Foundation to host an event that will introduce you to late medieval Spanish painting in the exhibition. Alberto Velasco, Lecturer at the Universitat de Lleida, and Dr Nicola Jennings, Associate Lecturer at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London will discuss some of the extraordinary multipanelled altarpieces produced in the Hispanic kingdoms in context of the transition from Gothic to Renaissance and competing influences of Italian and Northern art.
